Advances - IEEE 802.15 and Related Developments This Practel report analyzes the current status of several wireless technologies (and related applications and markets) that are united under the IEEE 802.15 umbrella of standards. Another common feature of these technologies is that they are ether still in the development or were standardized only resently.

The goal was achieved through addressing a wide range of technologies and related markets. Particular, this report concentrates on:
- SONET/SDH microwave radio: 2 GHz-40 GHz
- Packet microwave radio: 2 GHz-40 GHz
- 60 GHz radio
- E-Band microwave radio
- Free space optics: THz.
The common denominator for all these technologies is utilization of the microwave spectrum. Free Space Optics was included as a protection technology for microwave path; though, the report also discusses its other applications.
The report emphasizes specifics of each technological group, their applications, benefits and disadvantages; as well as related markets.
