Bluetooth Embedded Stack

Alcatel Alcatel & TTPCom announce Bluetooth embedded stacks for headset and cellular applications (2/02)

Alcatel and TTPCom Ltd announce the availability of embedded stack Bluetooth solutions for headset and cellular applications. The combination of Alcatel’s Bluetooth Chip, the MTC-60180, and TTPCom’s embedded software stacks, offers customers a total solution with a complete reference design, allowing them to considerably reduce development costs as well as time-to-market.

With two Mbits of flash memory and an on-chip ARM7 processor, Alcatel’s MTC-60180 platform is a flexible solution for equipment manufacturers who want to add Bluetooth to their applications. The MTC-60180 can store all software to run the application, e.g. for a headset or cellular phone, in the embedded memory of the Bluetooth Baseband. The embedded ARM7 processor can run the complete software stack without the need for an external processor.

MTC-60180 Bluetooth Baseband

The Alcatel Bluetooth design, the MTC-60180, is the first Bluetooth chip on the market offering complete V1.1 functionality with proven interoperability; full data rate, point-to-multi-point master/slave switch, multi-slot packet communication (for higher data rates), park, hold, & sniff modes, scatternet functionality, Safer+ encryption and three simultaneous audio channels.

The Alcatel MTC-60180 Bluetooth baseband offers functionalities such as full data rate potential, point-to-multipoint -- for piconets where a Bluetooth-enabled device talks to several other devices, and scatternet capability -- allowing for ad-hoc networking. With Alcatel's Bluetooth solution, equipment manufacturers will fully benefit from the capabilities of Alcatel's advanced Bluetooth technology to offer to their customers Bluetooth-enabled electronic devices with extensive new features.

With the flash memory embedded in the chip, Alcatel's design is a compact and complete solution. Customers can benefit from software upgrades faster and can differentiate their products by adding application layers without the need of external memory. The chip allows for maximum flexibility through the choice of radios. Alcatel has a future-proven platform, with a roadmap of various dedicated versions, a fast move to ROM (FlashROM from TSMC) and extended functionality. Moreover, Alcatel offers local technical customer support worldwide.

Yahoo Alcatel's Bluetooth Solution Now Sampling (12/01)
New Bluetooth Chip is the World's First to Offer Complete V1.1 Bluetooth Functionality. Alcatel announces the sampling of their new Bluetooth baseband chip. The Bluetooth design, called the MTC-60180, is the first Bluetooth chip on the market offering complete V1.1 functionality with proven interoperability.

SemiSeekNews Alcatel and IVT Corporation Sign Bluetooth Technology Partnership (12/01)

Alcatel and IVT Corporation announce they have signed a partnership agreement to jointly promote their Bluetooth solutions. The combination of Alcatel's Bluetooth reference design with embedded software up to HCI, and IVT Corporation's Bluetooth Host Protocol Stack, Profiles and BlueTester, results in a total Bluetooth solution that is easy to integrate, offering equipment manufacturers a short development cycle.
