TI's Bluetooth Solutions
TI has a wide portfolio of Bluetooth silicon including Radio Frequency
transceivers, Bluetooth Baseband, RF modules and software and development
tools. TI also delivers Bluetooth solutions for PC, Printer and Automotive
designs. TI is involved as an Associate member of the Bluetooth SIG and is
actively participating in many of the Working Groups including the IEEE
803.15.2 Working Group that is addressing interference and coexistence with
802.11b wireless Ethernet technology in the 2.4GHz band. TI is uniquely
positioned in this area with its broad portfolio of both Bluetooth and
802.11b technologies.
TI's Point-to-Point Bluetooth solution is a two device chipset composed
of the BSN6030 ROM Version Baseband Controller and the TRF6001 RF
Transceiver. The chipset integrates the Bluetooth software stack up to HCI,
eliminating the need for external firmware memory and allowing seamless
connection to a host. Point-to-Point
TI's Point-to-Multipoint is a two chipset solution that includes the
baseband processor and the Bluetooth-certified TRF6001 transceiver. TI
offers a variety of baseband processor solutions, such as RAM version
BSN6040 and a NEW ROM version BSN6050, to address the needs of wireless
personal area networking devices such as laptops, PDAs and smartphones. Point-to-Multipoint
TI's RF Bluetooth solution, TRF6001, is a highly integrated 2.4GHz RF
transceiver. Together with TI's various baseband devices it forms a
complete stand-alone Bluetooth wireless communication system. RF
TI's Third Party Support ensures wide coverage and flexibility of solutions
tailored to customer and market requirements. TI is expanding its large
Third Party Network to support Bluetooth activities. More

Instruments' TRF6001 High Sensitivity RF Transceiver Achieves Bluetooth
Certification (3/01)
In another move to give consumers the ability to wirelessly connect
electronic equipment via Bluetooth personal area networks, TI announces
that its high sensitivity BiCMOS RF transceiver has achieved Bluetooth
certification. TI now offers manufacturers of Bluetooth enabled wireless
products, a complete certified solution - the newly RF qualified device
coupled with TI's RAM-based BSN6020 baseband processor, which was certified
in November 2000.
Point-to-Point
Bluetooth Solutions
The BSN6030 ROM Version Baseband Controller and the TRF6001 Radio
Frequency (RF) transceiver chipset integrates the Bluetooth software stack
up to Host Controller Interface (HCI), eliminating the need for external
firmware memory and allowing seamless connection to a host. The chipset
includes all the software needed for a Bluetooth solution, eliminating the
need for external flash memory:
- TI's Bluetooth core
- Bluetooth software stack up to host controller interface (HCI) level
- UART and PCM interfaces for voice and data transfer
- Integrates easily with TMS320 DSP cores for use in mobile applications
Point-to-Multipoint
Bluetooth Solutions
TI's Point-to-Multipoint Solution addresses the needs of wireless
personal area networking devices such as laptops, PDAs and smart phones.
TI offers various baseband processor solutions with a RAM version, BSN6040
supporting both host-based applications and hostless applications,
eliminating the need for external host. Additionally, a new ROM version
BSN6050 eliminates the need for baseband and link manager firmware external
memory.
Combined with the TRF6001 RF transceiver from Texas Instruments, the
solutions form a complete, high performance, low-cost Bluetooth
point-to-multipoint wireless communications system.
These features, together with low-power consumption, small package size and
additional features, enable the implementation of a wide variety of
low-cost Bluetooth products.
TRF6001
RF Module
TI's TRF6001 is a highly integrated 2.4GHz RF transceiver. Together with
TI's various baseband devices it forms a complete stand-alone Bluetooth
wireless communication system. The chip does not require trimming in the
assembly / production process.
It incorporates a single-conversion low Intermediate frequency
architecture receiver with a dual gain low noise amplifier, high Image
reject mixer, local oscillator, limiting amplifier, digital and analog RSSI
output, on-chip self calibrating quadrature detector and adaptive data
slicer. The TFR6001 also incorporates a single digital line I/Q modulator,
PLLs, TX amplifier with gain control and ramping circuitry, low-power down
circuitry and baseband core voltage regulators.
