XE1400 series

The XEMICS EasyBlue™ devices offers both generic, as well as application specific Bluetooth baseband solutions tailored to all kind of battery powered applications. The generic XE140x devices can be used to enable any existing application with the Bluetooth communication standard. If cost and performance optimized Bluetooth solutions for specific, battery operated, applications are required XEMICS' provides the solutions.

XE1431 Ultra Low Power Bluetooth headset solution

XE1401 Ultra Low Power Bluetooth baseband controller

The XE1401 device is a stand-alone Bluetooth baseband protocol-on-chip solution providing full Bluetooth functionality from the radio interface up to the Host Controller Interface (HCI). This ultra low power ''add-on'' Bluetooth baseband device targets all battery powered applications with an already existing host controller.

XE1431 Ultra Low Power Bluetooth headset solution

The XE1430 series additionally includes an on chip voice CODEC as well as an fully integrated application controller, both are optimized for ultra low power consumption and low cost. The XE1431 offers a high level of integration and with only a few external components a complete Bluetooth wireless headset solution can be built. By combining the XEMICS ''Bluetooth Headset device'' XE1431 with a 3rd party 2.4GHz radio device ( e.g. Conexant 72303 ) a real ultra low power Bluetooth headset consuming less than 35mW (HV3) @1.8V can be realized.

• Single chip Bluetooth headset baseband solution including application controller and voice CODEC
• Fully integrated lower layer Bluetooth protocol, compliant to revision 1.1 based on qualified NewLogic™ IP
• On-chip 8-bit ultra low power host controller for application and upper protocol layers Bluetooth tasks
• Direct connection to the microphone and speaker
• Supports one SCO and up to three ACL simultaneous channels
• Various Bluetooth radio interfaces implemented, e.g. Conexant radio CX72230x
• Supports Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 radio modules
• Minimum of external components required
• Small form factor - BGA
• Core operating voltage 1.8V
• Ultra low power consumption, below 5mA@1.8V

April 9, 2001 XEMICS unveils world's lowest power ''SANDMAN CODEC'' geared to Bluetooth applications

XE3000 Series Development Tools > XE3000DVK

The XE3000DVK is a comprehensive development tool for the complete XE3000 series. Due to the on board microphone and an optical, digital audio interface the user is able to evaluate the complete XE3000 series in a typical voice as well as a typical audio environment. Programming Software based on a self explanatory graphical user interface to configure the XE3000 is included.

XEMICS XE3000 Product Selector (ADC, DAC, Codecs)

XE3000 CODECs combine microphone supply and power amplifier into a tiny TSSOP package. At a tiny power budget too: 2 mW, 1.8 V. Talking about power, the unique ''Sandman™'' function puts the whole application to sleep until an audio signal is detected.

XE3003 A miniature ADC with programable pre-amplifier and microphone bias source.

XE3004 A miniature DAC with 100 mA peak current power amplifier

XE3005 The complete audio CODEC combining XE3003 and XE3004 features

XE3005 is a fully integrated voice / audio CODEC. It contains all functions required for voice / audio microphone drive and amplification, 16 bit sigma-delta ADC, 16-bit PWM DAC and power amplifier. The Serial Audio Interface supports (SFS) Short Frame Sychronisation and (LFS) Long Frame Synchronisation digital audio formats.

• 16 bit sigma-delta ADC, 80 dB SNR
• ADC sampling rate 4 - 48 kHz
• 16 bit PWM DAC, 60 dB SNR
• DAC sampling rate 4 - 48 kHz
• Microphone supply 1.6 V / 1 mA and 1.1 V / 50 uA
• on-chip power amplifier, peak current 100 mA max.
• 1.8 - 3.3 V, 0.4 mA typ. (no load)
• TSSOP 20

XE3006 The Sandman CODEC : XE3005 with audio-detect function

XE3006 equals the XE3005 plus two Sandman™ outputs. The Sandman function is an audio signal detection function for example allowing an audio processor in the application to sleep until a relevant audio signal is detected.

• Sandman™ outputs for automatic audio signal detection
• 16 bit sigma-delta ADC, 80 dB SNR
• ADC sampling rate 4 - 48 kHz
• 16 bit PWM DAC, 60 dB SNR
• DAC sampling rate 4 - 48 kHz
• Microphone supply 1.6 V / 1 mA and 1.1 V / 50 uA
• On-chip power amplifier, peak current 100 mA max.
• 1.8 - 3.3 V, 0.4 mA typ. @fs=20kHz (no load)
• TSSOP 24
