Storing & Transfer of Remote BD_ADDRs

Original Post: who will store the BD_ADDR (eGroups Msg. ) Date: 2000-09-20

When a Bluetooth units want to bypass a inquiry scan, and go straight into paging a remote device, then it MUST know the BD_ADDR of that particular device.

This remote BD_ADDR is stored in the host (HCI Layer) , where it was originally stored via the HCI Inquiry Result Event. When the host wishes to setup a connection (page) the remote BD_ADDR Then it passes the BD_ADDR to the lower levels via the HCI link command Create Connection, in exactly the same way that it would after an Inquiry operation.

However this means the (potential) master will probably not know the (potential) slave's clock offset. This information can only be obtained by an "Inquiry" or after the connection is made.
