Ericsson Development Kit , CVSD/PCM Voice Coding ?

Question
Ericsson's development tool is using linear PCM for voice coding. But
in its BT module specs, it recommends CVSD. The Bluetooth specs actually
say that CVSD is mandatory for both handset and base station, but PCM
A-law or u-law is optional. Why are Ericsson apparently not using CVSD
encoding?
Answer
It is correct that CVSD is the mandated format for SCO data over the
air.
However, just to be clear, the devtool may use linear PCM as the interface
to the codec, but the baseband hardware inside the VSW26002 will convert
this into CVSD to be sent over the air.
