This IDC study, analyzes Japan's mobile and client computing market in 3Q11. Besides illuminating the current trends, we also provide a market forecast. Products covered in the study are smartphones, media tablets, and client PCs (excluding x86 servers). The annual data presented in this study up to 2010 are actual values, while those for 2011 and beyond are forecast values. As for quarterly data, the data for the period up to 3Q11 (July?September) are actual values, while the data for 4Q11 (October?December) and beyond are forecast values. All values are accurate as of November 2011.
"The mobile and client computing market has grown rapidly, due to increased demand for smartphones. However, the market growth will be gradual from 2013 onward, as the demand to replace mobile phones with smartphones slows down. Replacement cycle in the business PC market will drive the overall market growth to positive YoY growth, reaching a peak between 2012 and 2013," says Hirotoshi Asano, senior market analyst, PC, Mobile and Client Solutions, IDC Japan.
